LLC "Batumi Sea Port" (further - Batumi Port) in February, 2017, began dredging works in the water area and the fairway of the Port of Batumi.
The last time dredging was carried out 37 years ago. Dredging will allow the Port Authority of Batumi to maintain the project depths for many years, to increase operational capabilities, and to support the competitive advantages of the service:
• heavy tankers of the type "Aframax" and other types of tankers at the berths of the oil terminal;
• the only dry cargo terminal in Georgia berthing conditions for bulk carriers of the "HANDYMAX" type;
• heavy container vessels;
• Heavy passenger cruise liners.
For dredging operations, a specialized company has been involved, with extensive experience in the efficient and safe method of deepening along the quay bed and having specialized vessels with high technical workings.
After the completion of these works, which is planned, at the end of the 1st quarter of 2017, Batumi Port will raise the transport status of Georgia to a new qualitative level.
