Round table - "Trade relations of Uzbekistan: the role of alternative corridors"
On April 28, 2023, a
conference "Trade relations of Uzbekistan: the role of alternative
corridors" was held in Tashkent under the auspices of USAID. The
conference was attended by exporters, shippers, forwarders, carriers, logistics
companies, logistics associations, railway administrations, representatives of
ports .
The purpose of the
conference was to familiarize Uzbek companies involved in logistics services
with the possibilities of the Middle Corridor or the Trans-Caspian
International Transport Route (TMTM).
The Batumi Sea Port was
represented by B. Gogiberidze, a marketing specialist of the Department of
Commerce and Logistics, who briefly acquainted the conference participants with
the operational and technical capabilities of the port of Batumi .
Due to the new geopolitical
realities, the Middle Corridor today looks like an alternative option for
transporting goods between East and West. Representatives of Uzbek logistics
companies were very interested in the new possibilities of the Middle Corridor
and expressed their readiness to redirect part of the cargo to alternative
transport route in cases of setting up an optimal logistics chain.
All participants of the
conference unanimously noted the importance of holding such events in order to
strengthen the competitiveness of the corridors and provide high-quality
logistics services in order to attract additional cargo flows to the Middle Corridor.
