Batumi Sea Port Participates in an International Seminar in Shanghai
The Chief Operating Director of Batumi Sea Port, Tengiz Varshanidze, paid a working visit to Shanghai (PRC) and took part in a specialized international seminar organized by Shanghai Maritime University. The seminar was dedicated to the development of national strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to zero-emission operations in the maritime and port sectors.
The event brought together representatives of government authorities, port administrations, academia, and industry experts from various countries. Discussions focused on international regulatory frameworks related to the decarbonization of shipping and port activities, including IMO and EU ETS requirements, as well as practical approaches to developing national strategies, implementing environmentally friendly technologies, alternative fuels, and advancing sustainable port infrastructure.
Batumi Sea Port’s participation in this event reflects the Port’s consistent commitment to adopting international best practices in sustainable development, enhancing the environmental efficiency of its operations, and integrating into the global agenda for green maritime transport.
