International Seafarer's Day Solemnly Celebrated in Batumi

On June 25, 2026, Batumi traditionally hosted solemn events dedicated to International Seafarer's Day. The celebrations were organized by the Maritime Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and the Batumi State Maritime Academy.

The official part of the event began with a parade of Maritime Academy students, which concluded at Berth No. 10 of the Batumi Sea Port. During the ceremony, participants honored the memory of seafarers who lost their lives in the line of duty, and distinguished representatives of the industry were presented with awards for their outstanding contributions to maritime development.

Parallel to the celebrations, a working meeting was held between Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and the management of the Batumi Sea Port, organized by the Business Association of Georgia (BAG). During the meeting, which took place at the Hilton Hotel, the parties discussed priority areas for the development of the transport and logistics sector. Special attention was paid to improving the efficiency of the Middle Corridor and modernizing port infrastructure. The Minister highly praised the professionalism of Georgian seafarers and noted that aligning the industry with international standards is a crucial condition for strengthening the country's transit potential.
