Batumi Sea Port Confirmed Its “Green Port” Status and Successfully Passed an Intermediate Audit under the EcoPorts PERS Standard
LLC Batumi Sea Port continues to implement its strategic initiatives in the field of environmental sustainability and international certification.
On October 7, 2024, with the support of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and in cooperation with the ECO Sustainable Logistics Chain Foundation (ECOSLC, Netherlands), the Port obtained the “Green Port” status and received a certificate of compliance for its Environmental Management System with the international EcoPorts PERS (Port Environmental Review System) standard.
The audit of the Environmental Management System was conducted by the international certification body Lloyd’s Register (Netherlands).
In line with the principle of “continuous improvement” and in preparation for recertification under the EcoPorts PERS standard in 2026, an intermediate audit was carried out at the Port in 2025 using the Self-Diagnosis Method (SDM). The SDM report was prepared between August and September 2025. Batumi Sea Port received confirmation of successfully passing the audit and obtained recommendations for further enhancement of its Environmental Management System.
At present, the Port is implementing a series of measures to prepare for the upcoming recertification of EcoPorts PERS and to reaffirm its “Green Port” status in 2026.
Maintaining the international “Green Port” status demonstrates the commitment of the Batumi Oil Terminal Group, a foreign subsidiary of KazTransOil JSC, to the principles of environmental responsibility, sustainable resource management, and sustainable development.
